2024 Open Research Projects Notice

To promote academic exchanges, enhance the academic research level of Fujian Province-Indonesia Marine Food Joint Research and Development Center  (hereinafter referred to as “R&D Center”), consolidate the R&D Center’s research foundation in marine food, enhance its research characteristics in marine food, promote high-level discipline construction and high-level talent training, and to be in line with the operation principles of openness, interchange, integration, and competition, the R&D Center attaches importance to the intersection of multiple disciplines and specialties, and encourages the combination and integration of related disciplines, and thusly establishes open projects to fund outstanding scholars from home and abroad to carry out scientific research cooperation in the Center.

The Application Guidelines for the First Phase of Open Fund Projects in 2023 is issued hereby. Matters related to the specific application process are notified as follows:

I. Encouraged areas and directions (2024)

1.Marine products preservation technology

(1) Development and application of marine food storage and preservation technology

(2) Application of new sterilization technology in the development of marine foods

2. High-value utilization and development of marine products

(1) Research and development of deep-processed foodstuffs of marine products

(2) High-value comprehensive utilization of marine products by-products

(3) Marine products innovative leisure products, functional food development, and processing

(4) Extraction, Separation, and Purification of Active Substances of Marine Products

3. Research and development of marine food-related fast-testing technologies

(1) Research on the migration mechanism of harmful residues in marine food packaging materials

(2) Detection and control technology of drug residues, microorganisms, and illegal additives in marine food

4. Other marine food related research

(1) Marine food, bulk agricultural products for the international industrial chain, supply chain cooperation research, interpretation of industrial policy

(2) Development and utilization of marine protein, plant protein

(3) Marine food risk assessment and prediction technology, food traceability system construction

(4) Marine food safety operation and security system

(5) Nutritional Health Evaluation and Mechanisms Research on Marine Functional Foods

II. Application scope and targets

The main funding targets of the R&D Center’s open projects include personnel who hold intermediate or above titles in domestic and foreign universities, scientific research institutions, industrial sectors, and other units or those who are with master's degrees or above and working in scientific research institutes, higher education institutions, as well as students enrolled at the graduate level (master's or doctor's degree).

Ⅲ. Application procedures of open fund

1.Applicants should download the application form (Annex 1) directly from the homepage of Fujian Province-Indonesia Marine Food Joint Research and Development Center (http://fimf.fpnu.edu.cn) and fill in the application form according to the requirements of this guideline. Two copies of the application form should be signed by the applicant and the person in charge of his/her organization (for master's degree and doctoral degree students, supervisor’s written recommendation is required to be filled in the corresponding column of the application form), stamped with the official seal and sent to the R&D Center, and the electronic file should be sent to the R&D Center's email address (fimf@fpnu.edu.cn).

2. According to the principle of equitable, rational, and selective supporting, the academic committee members of the R&D Center will evaluate and determine the projects to be funded. Then projects approved to be funded should fill in the project charter (Annex 2).

3. The applicant shall fill in the project charter according to the evaluation opinions and sign a contract (Annex 3) with the R&D Center, then the corresponding project will be officially listed as an open fund research project of the R&D Center.

Ⅳ. Notes on the application of open fund projects

1.To better reflect the R&D Center's research characteristics in marine food, applicants for open projects should carefully check the “Encouraged of funding areas and directions” of the Guidelines. Applications that deviate from the research directions stipulated in the Guidelines will not be accepted.

2. The research period of the Open Fund Projects is generally 2 years, thus the implementation of it will be started on Sept. 1, 2024 and ended on Aug. 30, 2026. Three to five key projects will be set up with a fund of 30,000 to 40,000 CNY, while eight to fourteen normal projects will be established with 10,000 to 20,000 CNY. The projects will be post-subsidized, that is, the funds should be allocated after the research results are obtained and pass the final acceptance. The scope of use of the project fund is detailed in the Administrative Regulations of Fujian-Indonesia Marine Food Joint R&D Center on Open Projects Implementation and Fund Management (Annex 4).

3. Applicants shall fill in the application form of open fund carefully according to the contents of each item. And for those who need to utilize the facilities of the R&D Center for research, a detailed plan (equipment and instruments to be used, machine using time, and samples, etc.) should be listed.

4. Upon the completion of the project, relevant research work summaries, academic papers, and research reports should be submitted according to the project charter. Project leader must fulfill his/her duties seriously and complete the prospective research objectives. Project leader should do a good job of summarizing the project, managing scientific and technological files, summarizing the research results, and financial settlement according to the regulations of the R&D Center.

5. The research results of the open fund projects funded by the R&D Center shall be shared by the R&D Center, other funding units, and the researcher's unit. When applying for patents, declaring various kinds of achievements and rewards, and publishing papers, the full name of the R&D Center in Chinese/English (Fujian Polytechnic Normal University) must be the first signatory unit. For general projects, at least one core or above paper should be submitted; for key projects, at least one authoritative or above paper or one authorized invention patent should be submitted.

6. For overseas personnel, the application for open fund projects should be jointly made with qualified applicants within China.
