The Fuzhou Cereal Food Industry Technology Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as the center) was founded in 2020 with the approval of Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology. Taking Healthy Cereal Food Engineering Research Center jointly established by university and enterprise as its basis, the center relies on the School of Food and Bioengineering of FPNU for its construction. The center employed Professor Rao Pingfan, former chairman of the International Union of Food Science and Technology, and Professor Zhao Qing from Fujian Provincial Light Industry Council as consultants, forming strong technical force.
Covering an area of 1651 square meters, the center has a few subordinate bodies, such as Healthy Cereal Food Engineering Research Center, Cereal Food Testing Center, Baked Food Research and Training Center, and Pilot Laboratory for Grain Beverage Development, etc. Besides, it is equipped with a variety of grain food processing and testing devices like textual analyzer, 3D food printer, equipment for ultrasonic assisted extraction, alcohol-free beverage production line, protein purification system, Attenuated Total Reflection Flourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), ultramicro ultraviolet spectrophotometer and so on.
In accordance with the principle of resource sharing, complementary advantages, cooperation, reciprocity, and common development, the center aims to develop a series of healthy grain foods through special production processes and formulas using various grains as raw materials, provide baked food training, and offer relevant technical support for enterprises.
The center provides technical support for many grain processing enterprises such as Fujian Honglu Food Co., Ltd., Fuzhou Jingrui Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Jingu Food (Fuzhou) Co., Ltd., Fujian Guke Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Fujian Shaxian Xiangyouwei Food Co., Ltd., etc. It has been granted 4 invention patents in 2020 and 3 invention patents in 2021. Meanwhile, it is now in cooperation with the Fuqing Association for Science and Technology to promote popular science propaganda of cereal foods.
The director of the center, Professor Xiang Leiwen, is the director of Fujian-Indonesia Marine Food Joint R&D Center, the third-level talent of Quanzhou City, the vice dean (and a master tutor) of FPNU’s School of Food and Bioengineering, and the vice president of Yuanhong Food Industry College. Professor Xiang is also the executive director of Institute of Food Science and Technology of Fujian Province, the secretary general of Fuqing Food Industry Association, and a reviewer of Food Chemistry, Food Science and other magazines. He is mainly engaged in the research of Maillard reaction and its products, comprehensive development and utilization of natural products, complex sample pretreatment technology, and grain deep processing.
