The Fujian Universities and Colleges Scientific and Technological Innovation Team for Marine Food Industry Chain was co-established by the School of Food and Bioengineering and the School of Materials and Environmental Engineering of FPNU. It has formed partnership with Fujian Tianma Technology Group Co., Ltd., Saneheld Food Co., Ltd., and Fu Rong Hui Industry (Fujian) Co., Ltd., and has been incorporating their technical strength. In addition, with moves such as talent introduction, discipline integration, platform construction, and integrated school-enterprise development, it has gradually evolved into a scientific and technological innovation team that covers applied foundational research and industrialization.
In response to the national major strategic needs of food security and food supply, the team, deeply rooted in its principle of the providing of safe, nutritious, healthy, and delicious marine food, centers on the whole industry chain of "feed-breeding-food-catering". Specifically, it dedicates to the in-depth key technology research and industrialization of healthy farming and intelligent equipment, refined processing and comprehensive utilization, as well as green packaging and cold-chain logistics. And it is committed to enhancing scientific and technological support, ensuring marine food security, and promoting industrialization development. It is now exerting critical scientific influence in the field of marine food, relevant aspects ranging from key technology research and development, transformation of scientific achievement, application demonstration, and talent cultivation. Moreover, platform upgrading and discipline construction are also of its major concern. In near future, the team will be providing intellectual and technical support for the building of 100-billion-yuan Yuanhong International Food Industrial Park in Fuzhou’s new district.
The team leader, Professor Xiang Leiwen (Ph.D., Master Supervisor), is the deputy dean of FPNU’s School of Food and Bioengineering, the director of the Fuzhou Cereal Food Industry Technology Innovation Center, a third-level talent in Quanzhou city, a Longjiang Scholar of FPNU, and the secretary-general of Fuqing Food Trade Association. Professor Xiang mainly engages himself in the research of Maillard reaction and its products, comprehensive development and utilization of natural products. He was a director of a project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has published more than 20 academic papers, jointly made more than 10 achievements of various kinds with enterprises, applied for more than 10 invention patents, 3 of which have been granted, and realized the industrialization of deep processed aquatic products.
There are 8 professors, 12 associate professors and 10 lecturers in the team, a total of 30 people. Since its establishment, the team has undertaken several enterprise research projects, formulated 3 standards, obtained more than 10 patents, published 1 monograph and more than 20 papers, received many awards, and provided technical services and support for several food companies.
